One of the most recent ideas to come out of team is an easy-to-use tool that compares how different energy tariffs match to household energy usage patterns.
With the smart meter rollout comes an opportunity for companies to offer energy tariffs that match the consumption profiles of households. Currently, the tool has a subset of real energy data which allows users to see how tariffs, household profiles, consumption patterns and the cost of the monthly bills change depending on the variables chosen. The platform behind the tool allows half-hourly consumption data for individual, or collective groups of energy users, to be analysed against a wide range of external data sets – thus allowing meaningful insights to be drawn. The aim is to build further tools that use this underlying platform, with the current focus being on a tool to optimise substations.
