“The University of Essex is introducing a new MSc course in Cloud Computing for October 2013 to meet the increasing need for specialisation in cloud computing. This talk will introduce cloud computing and describe some of the research areas being investigated both at the University of Essex and elsewhere.”

PERSONAL PROFILE – Karen Gooch
Karen Gooch is Employability Co-ordinator for the Faculty of Science & Engineering at the University of Essex. Before taking up this role more than a year ago, Karen helped set up the government funded Graduate Internships Scheme. This successful scheme was continued by the University, and now also includes a student placements.. A former BBC journalist, Karen will talk about the importance of relevant work experience for students, and how businesses can tap into the talent of students and graduates at the University, whether for short term projects, summer placements, year in industry placements, or research, including post graduate consultancy and Knowledge Transfer Partnerships.
