The World’s First High Performance Hydrogen Car Visits Adastral ParkNovember 7, 2017
Adastral Park got a glimpse of the future recently when the Pininfarina H2 Speed Concept Car was shown off at the park. The visit was arranged by Mike Ashwell of Tech Mahindra, one of the Innovation Martlesham companies on the site.
Mike says: “H2 Speed is Pininfarina’s innovative vision of a track car based on revolutionary hydrogen fuel cell technology. Halfway between a racing prototype and a production supercar, the H2 Speed is the world’s first hydrogen, high performance car thanks to the ‘Full Hydrogen Power’ technology presented by Green GT, a powerful electric-hydrogen fuel cell drive chain.”
He continued: “The result is a zero emissions vehicle that can reach 300 km/h while releasing just water vapour into the atmosphere. With a maximum power of 503 horsepower, the engine accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.4 seconds. Also notable is the rapid refuelling, unknown to traditional electric cars: a full tank of hydrogen takes just 3 minutes. The H2 Speed almost completely eliminates noise pollution too, the sound emitted by the motor being close to total silence. “
The concept car was on display outside the hub building and attracted many visitors who were delighted to see this vision of future in automotive engineering.
Innovation Martlesham is an established cluster of high-tech ICT companies located at Adastral Park. Besides being home to a diverse range of large, medium and small companies, Innovation Martlesham is a ‘collaborative ecosystem’ for technology companies. Tech Mahindra acquired Pininfarina in December 2015 adding enormous value to Tech Mahindra’s portfolio of engineering services.
