The Biggest Data Protection Reform In A Generation: How To Stay Compliant

November 14, 2016

?????

In May 2018, new legislation for managing personally identifiable data is due to be implemented by the EU which is set to have a direct impact on all organisations that hold customer data. The General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) will regulate the way organisations manage, process and store personal and sensitive data and the free movement of such data.  If the rules are not abided by, organisations could receive substantial fines or even be obliged to pay compensation to victims.

The new data protection regulations have been described as the most significant business legislation change in a generation and the biggest data protection reform in 20 years.

Ipswich-based Applied Risk Management Ltd, has teamed up with Innovation Martlesham, BT and the British Standards Institution (BSI) to host an informative afternoon event offering advice to East of England businesses on the General Data Protection Regulation. The event running on Friday 2nd December 2016 will be held at Adastral Park, Martlesham from 1.30pm (Doors open at 1pm for refreshments and networking).

A panel of experts from Applied Risk Management, BT and BSI, alongside representatives from Birketts Solicitors and Wheatley Solutions will offer an authoritative and up to date briefing on the new data protection legislation which will come into force in May 2018.

Discussions will include the impact and challenges of the GDPR, which is expected to have a direct impact on companies of all sizes, sectors and industries throughout the UK. Any business that holds client or sensitive data, both digitally and physically, including full databases of contact names, addresses, emails and personal information for business use will need to comply with the new legislation.

Following the guest speaker speeches, visitor information stands will be open for one-to-one expert breakout sessions for technical and detailed follow-up questions and networking.

Applied Risk Management is well positioned to host such an event owing to their reputation of being at forefront of how data landscaping, risk assessments, business management systems and ISO standards can help you comply with the GDPR.

The event is FREE to attend, but as Adastral Park is a secure site attendance is by REGISTRATION only. With space limited and GDPR having such a wide impact, businesses interested in attending are urged to register early to secure their place.
