On Thursday 30th March, Coderus Limited, and Innovation Martlesham co-hosted a successful Microsoft Build event at Adastral Park, which was also sponsored by BT and the IP Network. This is the first in a series of three global technology events planned for 2016. The Microsoft Build event, that attracted interest from local television BBC Look East, was the first to be held at Adastral Park and one of only two events taking place in the UK.
On the day, over 60 visitors attended, including representatives from major Information and Communications Technology (ICT) and Digital companies across the East of England, along with software developers and those with a keen interest in Microsoft technology.
Delegates enjoyed networking sessions and product demos before watching a live stream broadcast of the Microsoft Build keynote speeches, direct from San Francisco, California to BT’s John Bray Lecture Theatre at Adastral Park, home of BT’s global and development headquarters and Innovation Martlesham.
Microsoft Build is an annual developer conference – a platform for Microsoft to showcase their latest product innovations to the world. Key technology announcements made at the 2016 event included the updates intended for Cortana, Microsoft’s best example of AI technology; the developer addition of the augmented reality software, HoloLens; and the new improved Skype that allows Cortana to engage with third party bots to deliver relevant intelligence based on the most simplistic of commands.
Following the live stream of the keynote speeches, Jim Milne, Business Development for Innovation Martlesham, hosted a lively panel discussion with the audience that discussed implications and opportunities of what Microsoft had just announced. The specially selected group of experts consisted of Mark Thomas (CEO of Coderus Limited), Vickie Allen (Founder, DevelopHER), Alan Jones (CEO of Nerostorm and IM Technology Mentor) and Dr Nicholas Caldwell (Lecturer UCS)
Mark Thomas, CEO of Coderus Limited said “I would like to thank everyone who attended the Microsoft Build event, as well as our co-host and sponsors who all helped to make it possible. The great attendance and feedback shows a genuine enthusiasm and appetite in the East of England to stay connected to the latest trends in software development and technology..”
Nicky Daniels, Head of Innovation Martlesham said “These events are part of the current IM strategy that delivers benefits to both companies in the IM cluster, as well as other ICT and Digital companies in the region. This was an excellent opportunity to meet such a diverse group of companies”.
This successful Microsoft Build event will be followed by two similar technology events in 2016. Coderus and Innovation Martlesham will be co-hosting the Google I/O event, which returns to Adastral Park for a second year on 18th May 2016, followed by the Apple WWDC event in June 2016 (date to be confirmed).
