Smart Cities – are they relevant to Suffolk?
A presentation and discussion led by Chris Tuppen, Founder of Advancing Sustainability LLP
Monday 24th October 2011, 4.00pm – 6pm
UCS Waterfront Building, Room W418
I am delighted to invite you to this inaugural event led by the Haven Gateway Partnership working directly with Suffolk Greenest County that looks specifically at the challenges and opportunities of delivering sustainable and low carbon growth.
Look back over the past forty years and ask yourself what has changed – not in an incremental way, but in a transformational way.
Many aspects of our lives have got incrementally better, with many products and services showing improved quality, higher efficiency and better safety. Over the same period some aspects of our lives have changed out of all proportion. Behind much of this transformational change lies high speed connectivity and the internet. The availability of information at the touch of a button has changed the way people interact with each other, has created highly successful new business models and has opened up global commerce.
We hope it will initiate a challenging discourse on how best to innovate and work smarter to deliver low carbon sustainable development. With the pressures of housing supply, the ongoing threats of climate change and coastal erosion and the need to establish a clear programme for growth in response to the economic challenges such a debate seems particularly timely.
At this first event. I am delighted to welcome a well-known face in Chris Tuppen, who has kindly agreed to share his learning from a recent case study he has been undertaking in Bristol. We believe this provides useful insights and is of direct relevance to Suffolk.
This event is supported by Suffolk – Greenest County, East of England IDB Ltd, Suffolk Chamber of Commerce, Innovation Martlesham and University Campus Suffolk.
